Who we are

We are Practitioners of
Sustainable Tourism

We craft meaningful journeys by thoughtfully combining people, places, and experiences.
Each of our trips is designed with creativity, care, and a deep respect for our surroundings — whether natural or human— recognizing their intrinsic value and beauty.

Travel Consulting

Building the Future of
Sustainable Travel

Our commitment to sustainability starts in the communities we partner with, which is why we work directly with these local destinations through our tourism consulting service. Through this, we can help make a difference not in the present, but going forward. Let’s build the future of sustainable travel, together.

Message from our Founder

TRICOLAGE started in 2020,
the year when our world was changed forever.

The pandemic has made people more mindful about the environmental impact we bring to the world. I found myself, like you, asking how I can help, and build a better and more sustainable future for all.

Travel is my passion. I am fortunate enough to have experienced the world’s diversity through my journeys. This passion of mine not only gives me countless enriching experiences, it also changes my perspective in life. I learned that the real joy of traveling does not come from consumption, or indulgence, but rather from sharing stories with local people, helping protecting their way of life and preserving local culture — and treating them and the environment with my utmost respect.

Wouldn’t it be great if I could help make the world a better place, with my passion?

One night over dinner with Fumiko, my local Japanese friend in the hospitality industry, she expressed how dispirited she was by the inequitable relationship between travelers and local destinations in Japan. While travel agencies focus solely on fulfilling tourists’ demands and ensuring their enjoyment, local craftsmen and hospitality suppliers’ interests are often overlooked, and as a result, host communities are often negatively impacted by tourism activities. She was determined to find a way that would benefit both tourism and local communities.

That’s the moment when we both realized we had found our purpose.

The rest is history. TRICOLAGE was founded not long after that, to give us travelers a choice to reflect our value, to help us travel better, and to give us the power to help build a more sustainable future for all.

Let’s do just that — let’s travel better.

Our Engagement

Pioneering Sustainable Travel,
TRICOLAGE Crafts Impactful Journeys
for People, Places, and the Planet.

Traveling is one of the most enriching experiences, connecting us with the world and with ourselves. Discovery, exploration, escape… These are elements that awaken our genuine desire to understand and engage with the world. But for travel to remain meaningful, we must care for both the planet and its people along the way. Only then can we ensure that future generations will enjoy the beauty and richness of our planet.

At TRICOLAGE, we aspire to create experiences that leave a positive and lasting impact on the global tourism landscape. To design sustainable journeys, we take concrete and measurable actions, such as reducing the carbon footprint of your trip and collaborating with the most sustainable hotels and local tour operators.

This strong commitment is reflected in the four pillars of the global sustainable tourism standard (management, social and economic aspects, cultural and environmental) based on our three fundamental principles: people, places and the planet. Thanks to this ongoing work, we were the first tour operator in Japan to receive GSTC (Global Sustainable Tourism Council) certification for tour operators from Control Union in 2022. Renewed annually since then, this recognition highlights our firm commitment to continue improving, leading by example and pioneering sustainable tourism practices.
