14 / 01 / 2026

Demonstrating the Continued Practice of Sustainable Tourism Based on International Standards

Tricolage Inc. has obtained the GSTC Tour Operator Certification following an audit conducted by Bureau Veritas Japan Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Yokohama, Kanagawa; President and Representative Director: Tatsuhito Tonosaki), a GSTC (Global Sustainable Tourism Council)–accredited independent international certification body.
This marks the first case in Japan in which the GSTC Tour Operator Certification has been granted through Bureau Veritas Japan.

Mr. Nakagawa, Director, Bureau Veritas Japan Co., Ltd. Mr. Wong, CEO, Tricolage Inc.

Inbound travel consulting company Tricolage first obtained the GSTC Tour Operator Certification in December 2022, becoming the first company in Japan to do so. As this certification is valid for a period of three years, the certification has now been renewed upon its expiration. Through this renewal, the company’s continued commitment to sustainable tourism initiatives has once again been recognized.

Message from Masayuki Nakagawa
Director, Certification Division, Head of North East Asia, Bureau Veritas Japan Co., Ltd.

“We would like to congratulate Tricolage on achieving GSTC Certification for four consecutive years. In an era of rapidly increasing inbound tourism, Tricolage’s efforts to practice sustainable tourism across environmental, social, and economic dimensions represent a symbolic example of the ‘qualitative transformation’ of Japan’s tourism industry. Through our rigorous audits based on international standards, we have confirmed that Tricolage is steadily advancing the practical implementation of sustainability. Bureau Veritas will continue to support Japan’s goal of becoming one of the world’s most sustainable tourism destinations through the promotion and expansion of sustainable tourism.”

Message from Benjamin Wong, CEO of Tricolage Inc.

“We recognise the renewal of our GSTC Tour Operator Certification as an important milestone, having achieved GSTC Certification for four consecutive years.

This renewal is particularly meaningful as it marks our first audit conducted by Bureau Veritas, following a rigorous audit process that provides additional independent assurance that our practices align with GSTC’s internationally recognised standards.

Sustainability is not a one-time achievement for Tricolage, but an ongoing process of continuous improvement. We will continue to work closely with our partners and communities to advance sustainable tourism in Japan and beyond.”
