Tricolage Inc. (Headquarters: Shibuya, Tokyo; CEO: Benjamin Wong) is pleased to announce the completion of the renewal process for the GSTC Tour Operator Certification by Control Union Certifications, a third-party international certification body accredited by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC), headquartered in the Netherlands.
Tricolage, an inbound travel consulting company, first obtained the GSTC Tour Operator Certification in December 2022, becoming the first in Japan to do so. This renewal reaffirms Tricolage’s ongoing commitment to sustainable tourism.
GSTC is a non-profit organization that establishes and manages standards for sustainable travel and tourism, with members including government organizations and private enterprises from around the world. In Japan, the Japan Tourism Agency has been a member of GSTC since 2020.
The GSTC standards encompass four key areas: sustainable management, socioeconomic impacts, cultural impacts, and environmental impacts. Many sustainable tourism certifications worldwide are developed in accordance with these standards.
Tricolage has been dedicated to promoting sustainable tourism through obtaining and renewing one of the most rigorous certifications—GSTC certification. Following the initial certification in 2022, this renewal demonstrates our strong commitment to sustainable tourism. Tricolage will continue to promote sustainable tourism and contribute to the development of the entire industry.
Comment from Benjamin Wong, CEO of Tricolage:
“This certification renewal signifies the continued recognition of our efforts towards sustainable tourism. We will continue to demonstrate leadership in sustainable tourism, working in collaboration with our domestic and international partners to achieve this goal.”
